Food: A New California Pizza Kitchen

The formal launch of the new CPK interiors was held last week at their very own W Global Center building, down at the corner of 30th and 9th in Bonifacio Global City. I first saw the new interiors at Lucky Chinatown wall, and I must say, it was love at first sight. I posted about the new look of CPK before. It was definitely a more refreshing look compared to the traditional interiors of CPK before.

The wall colors are now brighter, more neutral. Wooden elements surround the space as well. The combination reminds me of the beach. I guess that's good because CPK is aiming for the California-themed interior. It is similar to the US 'sawgrass design', but the materials used were sourced locally.

Yellow pendants, sphere glass lamps and wood cased lighting hang from the ceiling.

What made me love this look even more is that they have changed the seating into modern dark chairs. They were different from the ones in Lucky Chinatown, which had light wood chairs. Personally, I think the darker chairs gave the place a sense of casual elegance -- more expensive and less of the cottage look -- and they made the white-washed tables pop.

As usual, CPK served the yummiest food. Much to my liking, they gave us Thai Crunch salad first. I made a confession a while back that this is my favorite comfort food from CPK, and that I can live off of this forever. They really know me so well. Hah! Well, for those of you who haven't tried it, please, please do and tell me what you think. I know it's an old CPK menu item, but to give you an idea, the Thai Crunch salad has shredded napa and red cabbage, chicken, cucumbers, cilantro, carrots, scallions, edamame, wontons and rice sticks, tossed with lime-cilantro and Thai-peanut dressing.

On a side note, I was seated next to the Archie Rodriguez, the President and CEO of Global Restaurant Concepts, Inc., which handles the CPK franchise in the Philippines. Good thing I didn't know who he was at that time, because if I did, I would have been starstrucked and I would not have been able to talk to him. I was really impressed that he's super approachable pala. Come to think of it, almost every one I met who is from GRCI is really friendly. No kidding.

Mr. Rodriguez mentioned they were going to bring back the original Thai Crunch salad -- if I'm not mistaken, it was called Thai Chicken salad before. I don't think I've ever had that, so I'm pretty excited.

They also served Asparagus and Spinach Spaghettini. This one, I really liked. It's so light even if it's pasta. It has sauteed asparagus, spinach, fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic and Parmesan cheese. It's perfect for vegetarians.

Next up were the Anchovy Pizza (yes, anchovy) and Italian Sausage Calzone. The thin crust pizza had crumbled anchovy fillets, sliced fresh tomatoes, garlic and fresh Mozzarella with Neapolitan sauce. It came with wedges of lemon on top, which they recommend you use because anchovies are really, really salty. I normally don't eat anchovies, but this time, I urged myself to try it. It was pretty good. I would have had more if I wasn't watching my diet. Hey, it's holiday season once again no! Lots of Christmas parties to attend pretty soon.

The calzone naman, I wasn't really a fan of. I tried it and it was okay, but I just really don't eat calzones. I'm pretty sure my husband would have liked it. Now, he is a calzone man. Maybe the next time we visit CPK, I'll let him try it.

There was also the Cheese Steak Sandwich, made from USDA tender steak strips sauteed with button mushrooms, yellow onions, Mozzarella and Queso Quesadilla cheeses, and served with fries and Au Jus.

Topping off the meal were two desserts -- Caramel Hazelnut Cake and Mango Crunch (another favorite of mine). Let the photos do the talking. Okay, I'm drooling just by looking at these yummy desserts.

So, what's in it for you? Here...

Deal #1: During the grand opening of CPK Bonifacio Global City on December 15, you can get a free pizza treat for a minimum dine-in spend of P500.

Deal #2: This holiday season, CPK also launched their Holiday Party Meal for only P995, which is basically a group meal package where you can mix and match pizzas and pastas. You can choose from a variety of pizzas like Pepperoni, Hawaiian and Five Cheese and Fresh Tomato, and from different family-size pastas like Spaghettini Vongole, Tomato Basil Spaghettini or Spaghettini Bolognese. This hearty meal also comes with free carrot cake and a bottle of soda -- I think they give out Coke in a 1.5L bottle. One thing to note though is that the Holiday Party Meal is available until January 6, 2013 and is valid for take-out and delivery orders only.

If ever you're in the area, why don't you go visit CPK, enjoy their new look and have some of their yummy food? The newly opened CPK is at W Global Center, 30th Street corner 9th Avenue, Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Whew. I think I've written too much na about CPK. Haha.

As an added bonus, let me share with a lucky reader P1,500 worth of GCs that you can spend at CPK.  Have fun!

    1. Heehee. I envy you though because CPK here still does not carry Mango Iced Tea, which is weird, because the Philippines has the best-tasting mangoes in the world.
