Home: DIYable Wall Art

Most of the wall art in our home (now and then) were DIYed. Yes, we have a bit of original fine artworks here and there, and there are also a lot of handpicked photographs that are important to us, framed and displayed.

Below is a roundup of the DIYed wall art we have at home.

[1] Instant art in fabric scraps: It just so happened that I had extra fabric lying around. Just cut the fabric to size and tape it at the backside to prevent the fabric from slipping. Wallpaper scraps work just as well.

[2] Cute art for the kids' bedroom: Do you have a friend or relative who can draw? Ask them to draw something like a cartoon series. My husband drew the series below on paper, scanned and printed it on textured card stock. If you look at it as a whole, it tells an interconnection of events.

[3] Bring out the artist in you: If you can't draw, attempt abstract painting. Anyone can do it. You can find an inspiration print online, and just paint your heart out. Use large canvas to make a bigger impact. However, large framed canvas is so expensive, so here's a tip -- get smaller canvas sizes and join them together at the back using duct tape.

[4] Type your own art: Try to create your art by using software that is already in your computer. Word, PowerPoint or Photoshop will do the job. You can download free fonts and experiment on typography. This one is a DIYed bus roll of our favorite beaches in the world. I had it printed at Kinko's to the size of my frame.
